Amelia Island 2013 - Part 2

Continuing from the last set of shots, here are some more cars! Some of them are from Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance and some are from a show a few miles down the road, Festivals of Speed. Amelia Island was great. Hope to be back some year in the future for another show.

In this set, there's a picture of Wayne Carini filming the Chasing Classic Cars show. He was all over the event and was very talkative and approachable.

The full gallery is on Flickr here if you'd like to check them out.

Amelia Island 2013 - Part 1

This weekend featured a quick 36-hour trip to Florida for the Amelia Island car show. Weather was in the mid-70s and sunny both days, making it a great escape from the 30s back in Boston. About the show? If you're a guy who likes cars in any way: GO. It was awesome.

I'll have a few posts on this due to the huge amount of cars there... so I may have gone a bit shutter-happy. If you'd like to see the rest of the pics, they're on Flickr here.

Walking Providence

The other weekend, we decided to take a day trip to Providence to catch a PC basketball game, which we hadn't gone to in a few years. Rather than driving, we changed it up and took the train down from Boston. Aside from a 30 minute "security situation" on the Amtrak to Providence, it was great! Plenty of walking all over the city, which is probably evidence as to why so few so few pictures. But we hit the key spots: Federal Hill, downtown, and the East Side / College Hill. A cold and overcast day, but it was great to be back.

Also on Flicker here.

Blizzard of 2013 - Nemo!

Let me just first start off by saying I love snow! So I was very excited by the recent Nemo blizzard, despite the 4+ hours spent shoveling this morning and afternoon. We got between 24 - 30 inches here and even more from blowing snow into drifts. I'm currently listening to an excavator clear snow from our parking lot outside.

Below are some shots from late yesterday afternoon as well as this morning in the aftermath of the storm. A few are HDR - high dynamic range. Some consumer cameras have this feature automatically, but the more sophisticated semi-pro and pro-level cameras do it by manually setting the exposure bracketing for the scene, then taking 3 to 5 pictures. Afterwards, you combine them in Photoshop. The way some photographers apply HDR is a bit overdone and unrealistic, but if moderately applied, you can get some cool surreal scenes.

These pictures are also on Flickr here.

Southwest Trip 2008

As it gets to be further into winter here in New England, I start to think about warmer climates every now and then - although I do love the snow. Five years ago, I made a trip out to the Southwest and was amazed by the colors and scenery there. There is really nothing like the red rocks anywhere else. I'm thinking a photo trip there again this summer is in the works! A few shots from last time around, plenty more on my Flickr gallery.

Pigeon Point Light

Towards the tail end of a trip to California last month, a friend and I took a drive down the Pacific Coast Highway on a rainy day to Pigeon Point. The point has a number of great weathered structures and is definitely exposed to the conditions as you can see the clouds, rain, and mist in some of these shots.
