Acadia in the Mist

It's been a while! And I've definitely forgotten to post some pictures from the past few months. Let's take care of that with a few posts in a row from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park this fall. This first group here is an early October day exploring the beaches, cliffs, and trails of Acadia in the mist, fog, and rain. Although it was peak leaf season -and the tourists on the roads definitely showed it- most of the side trails were deserted, so it wasn't a complete bust!

Atlantic Sunrise - Part 2

As mentioned in the previous post, I ventured out to LeCount Hollow in Wellfleet on Cape Cod to capture the sunrise. Below are some additional photos from that morning.

Atlantic Sunrise - Part 1

Earlier this summer, I spent a few days off from work on Cape Cod. I made an early morning drive out to LeCount Hollow in Wellfleet to catch the sunrise over the Atlantic. It was very dark when I arrived but the sky began to brighten quickly into a great show of color.

I began shooting on the cliffs above and later moved down to the water's edge experimenting with different techniques, filters, lenses, and angles. Spent more than 2 hours, but it was worth it! Was even visited by 8 or more seals swimming close to shore! More pics from that morning in the next post.

The Rock at Rock Harbor

Apparently Rock Harbor on the Cape is named after this huge rock! Wellp there you have it. It's about a half mile walk out from shore on the tidal flats. After taking some sunset pics on the other side of the harbor, I made a trek out to get some quick shots of it in the fading light. There were only a few families walking around this wide open area, a huge difference from the other side of the harbor. It was a really quiet spot with only the sound of water rolling in.

After snapping a few up close and since it was pretty dark at this point, I had packed up my gear and headed on my way out. Glad I turned around and noticed the pathway in the sea grass reflecting the light, which really framed up the massive piece of stone for a pretty cool perspective.

Pre-Dawn Over the Dunes

Spent the past week of vacation traveling mostly, but did manage to stop on Cape Cod twice. There will be plenty of pictures coming of Cape sunrises and sunsets, but this is just a quick preview.

LeCount Hollow is a great beach in Wellfleet overlooking the Atlantic. It has high 60+ foot dunes that look down on the expansive beach below with sand and water as far as you can see.  Such a quiet and secluded spot to watch the sunrise.

Juno Beach

Well these pics are a bit overdue! Back in March, we took a quick winter getaway trip to Florida for the week. It was 20 degrees and snowing in Boston when we flew out but thankfully was a nice 80+ and sunny in Florida for most of the week. One of our day trips was to Juno Beach. Great waves, warm water, surfing, fishing, and a thousand-foot pier with awesome views! Absolutely worth stopping here if you're ever near West Palm.
