Some alleyway / urban / industrial areas can provide some very interesting lesser-seen angles of the city. These are just a few selections in and around Boston that are right off the main streets and sidewalks.

Night Drives
Surprisingly not illegal! Set up a tripod on the passenger seat, get the focus and exposure right - then click away! Bumps in the road translate into blurs, but the result is a pretty unique effect and a perspective you don't normally see.

Depth of Field
A lens with a very shallow depth of field (such as one of my favorites, the Canon 50mm f1.8) allows you to achieve some great focal blur. These shots are simply pieces of paper over a black background.

Long Overdue Long Exposure Fall Shots
These shots from late fall are much overdue... so here they are, at the end of the year. Many of the blurred water shots were done with a long exposure time (.6 seconds or longer) and stopped down aperture (f/22), the image stabilizer on my lens was helpful but a tripod would be recommended.

Droplets
An attempt to capture a few frames of water droplets in motion.
150 or so tries later... 7 useable shots are the outcome.
