Boston Marathon 2014

The 2014 Boston Marathon proved that a city, state, and nation can come together after a tragedy stronger than ever. An amazing spring day greeted runners and viewers along the entire course. American Meb Keflezighi won the Men's division for the first time since 1983 and Dick and Rick (Team) Hoyt completed their 32nd and final marathon in a fitting conclusion to great event and year of recovery.

Winter Drive

So, it's been 5 days of pic of the day (#potd2014)! I've quickly realized this is going to clog up the blog with an absurd number of posts. For the few who might be interested, I'll be uploading the pics to this set on Flickr here. Maybe I'll do some recaps from time to time here on the blog as well.

More to the point, today's pic is some winter driving.

Bar Harbor on the Tree

One of our favorite ornaments - this one comes from a vacation trip a few years back in Bar Harbor, Maine.

Day 4 of pic of the day!

Along the Charles River in Newton, an industrial building with a pretty interesting tag. Hypster!

POTD - Lights in 2014

Happy New Year!

I'm thinking that I'll at least make an attempt to post 1 picture of the day (hence POTD in the title) on a social media... either here, Facebook, or Instagram. It might be tough, but we'll see how long this lasts. Day 1.

Tried to make it outside to take a few photos this afternoon... except by the time I got to the spot I was looking for, the sun had set. So, in looking for something else, I snapped a few pics of Christmas lights in Chestnut Hill. Intentionally experimenting with various focus levels can yield some beautiful details in the lights.

Walden Pond at Sunset

In late October, I took a half day to try to shoot the peak foliage in the area. Unfortunately, the day had been overcast with little sun shining through. As sunset was approaching, I made my way to Walden Pond, hoping for the best. The clouds departed and I had a great 45 minutes of golden hour photography - with dark late afternoon shadows and strong light.

You'll see some swimmers in these pictures - there is a group of older individuals and couples (65+) who routinely swim the cool water here every afternoon!

Walden is such a quiet and relaxing place, it's worth the drive out to Concord.
